We specialize in ruggedized LNB for the professional satcom market

LNB is in our DNA

To develop and produce Low-Noise Block downconverters (LNB) has been our core business since 1986. With professional LNBs from C-Band to Q-Band, we have state-of-the-art products for various satellite communication earth station applications. Over the years, all the parameters that impact the carrier-to-noise ratio have been fine-tuned and improved. Today, we provide COTS products that meet the most challenging market standards.

An LNB is a crucial component in satellite communication systems. It is mounted on the satellite dish and performs two main functions:

  • Low-Noise Amplification: It amplifies the weak signals received from satellites, which are often very faint due to the long distance they travel.
  • Frequency Downconversion: It converts the high-frequency satellite signals into lower frequencies that can be easily processed by your satellite receiver.

The most important aspect of an LNB is its ability to minimize noise while amplifying the signal. This ensures that the signal remains clear and strong, which is essential for high-quality satellite TV reception and other satellite communication applications.

Our LNBs amplify the weak signals received from satellites without adding a lot of noise and convert down a frequency block from C-band, X-band, Ku-band, Ka-band, and Q-band to L-Band. They play a critical part in an earth station antenna. Over the years, we have improved our products with the aim of making world-leading products that our customers can trust.

Our LNBs are robustly designed to function for many years, even under tough conditions. They have a standard temperature range (storage and operating) of -40 to +80ºC (-40 to +176°F) and are outdoor-proof, as proven by the success of over 100,000 devices in daily use. We do not compromise on the quality of ingoing components.

If you know one of our customers, we suggest you reach out and let them tell you about their experience working with us and our products. All the products we manufacture are individually tested before leaving our manufacturing site, and test reports can be requested free of charge for their specific serial number.

When selecting or comparing an LNB, there are three key things to consider:

  1. Low VSWR / Return Loss: This reduces power transmission efficiency in the system. To optimize this, we sometimes use a Low Loss Isolator as standard since it improves overall performance, even if it has a slightly negative impact on the noise figure. We design to mitigate mismatches to meet our high standards without using a Low Loss Isolator, saving cost and size for our customers.
  2. High P1dB & IP3: This mitigates the risk of saturation. As a rule of thumb, you should consider a low gain LNB if the antenna is over 3.7m in diameter.
  3. High Data Rate / Symbol Rate: To meet these needs, a good phase noise is required. We recommend using an external reference to mitigate LO drift. Our new platform has AutoSwitch between internal and external reference to enable both options for our customers in the same LNB.
